The road journey from Kannur is longer and normally requires approximately two and a half to three hours, depending on traffic. Calicut International Airport can also be used, but its greater distance makes it more suitable only when flight schedules or fares justify the longer transfer.
For destination weddings, airport transportation should be planned according to flight clusters rather than through individual taxis. A welcome desk can be positioned at the airport, while cars, premium vans and coaches can be assigned according to family groups and arrival times. Railway transfers are particularly useful for local guests, production employees, photographers, entertainers and vendors. Many specialist suppliers may travel from Mangaluru, Kannur, Kozhikode or Kochi, so accommodation and overnight parking may be required for production crews. Equipment should reach the property well before guest movement begins. Heavy vehicles should not be allowed to arrive during check-in periods or ceremonial processions.
The destination can be incorporated into the celebration through visits to Bekal Fort, nearby beaches and Kasaragod’s cultural attractions.
