Description
Coconut Lagoon, a CGH Earth resort in Kumarakom, is an exceptional backwater destination for intimate weddings, engagement ceremonies, wedding anniversaries and private family celebrations. Located beside Vembanad Lake and surrounded by coconut groves, canals, paddy fields and tropical gardens, the resort offers a peaceful setting that captures the heritage and natural beauty of Kerala. The boat-only arrival gives every celebration an exclusive destination character and creates a memorable welcome experience for guests. The resort is built using restored sections of traditional Kerala tharavads, some of which are more than 150 years old. Its heritage architecture, carved wooden details, tiled roofs, canals and waterfront scenery provide distinctive settings for wedding photography and ceremonial décor. Selected lawns, lakeside areas, restaurants and heritage spaces can be considered for intimate ceremonies, welcome dinners, mehendi functions, musical evenings and receptions, subject to guest numbers, weather conditions and the resort’s environmental guidelines. Coconut Lagoon is best suited to carefully curated celebrations rather than very large convention-style weddings. CGH Earth’s Wedded on Earth service can assist with wedding management, theme execution, personalised menus and professional hospitality. Floral décor, traditional Kerala elements, lighting, cultural performances, live music and customised guest experiences can be planned while respecting the resort’s sensitive wetland environment. Event capacity and the suitability of each space should be confirmed according to the proposed layout. The resort has approximately 49 heritage accommodations across Heritage Bungalows, Heritage Mansions and Lake Front Villas with private pools. This allows the wedding party and selected guests to stay within the property and experience a complete residential celebration. Dining options include Ettukettu, Aymanam and Vembanad Grill, offering Kerala cuisine, fresh seafood, grilled specialities and multi-cuisine selections. Private dining, traditional banana-leaf meals, paddy-field dining and customised wedding menus can be discussed with the resort. Facilities include a lakeside swimming pool, Ayurveda centre, yoga sessions, cardio equipment, Wi-Fi across the property, a souvenir shop and the Darter Club nature interpretation centre. Guest experiences such as sunset cruises, canoe rides, kayaking, birdwatching, cycling and visits to the butterfly garden can be incorporated into a multi-day wedding itinerary. Coconut Lagoon has no direct road access and must be reached by boat. The most convenient route is through Kavanatinkara boat landing, approximately 10 kilometres from Kottayam, followed by a resort boat journey of around 10 minutes. An alternative approach is through Puthenangadi boat landing, followed by a boat ride of approximately 25 minutes. Kottayam Railway Station is the most practical railhead, while Cochin International Airport is approximately 85 to 90 kilometres away. Airport transfers generally require 2.5 to 3 hours, including the road and boat journey. Guest arrivals, luggage movement and vendor transportation should therefore be carefully scheduled in coordination with the resort.
